Empathy! Empathy! Put yourself in the place of ME!

Today the crew practiced ways to show EMPATHY!  They were able to "stand" in someone else's shoes and think about what they felt like and offer ways to could help!

Once groups collaborated, each group got to present what they learned!

At the end of our lesson I introduced our SOLE HOPE project!  The crew was able to think about what it would be like to have jiggers in their own feet and they wanted to help kids suffering so badly.  They were happy to know we'll be hosting a shoe cutting party to help kids get healing for their feet!!  They also got to think about how they have helped the homeless as they've been collecting clothes to share with the St. Augustine Homeless Shelter!

Happy Birthday!!

Birthday Smiles!!!

Fiddle Sticks!!!

We had the recent opportunity to change the world by counting fiddle sticks!  I had a workshop to teach and decided I couldn't count out all the fiddle sticks by myself, but my crew could! It turned into an awesome counting lesson.  They counted by 10's, then grouped them into 100's.  The challenge then became let's figure out how many there are in all!!

They learned how to help each other use rubber bands to group the sticks into 100's!  Teamwork!

This group counted their own sticks, then helped another group!

Helping the next group!

Here is part of the groups adding up the TOTAL!

8,309 Fiddle Sticks in all!

Forces at work AGAIN!

The crew experimented with Forces of Motion this week.  They used bouncy balls, marbles, bubbles, tops, and  pinwheels as learning tools!
