Happy Birthday!

Girls just want to have FUN!

Warning- this might make you want a cupcake!!

Look at our new ship!

A sweet friend of mine ordered this polka dot decoration for our classroom!
It's almost as cute as the crew!  We all decided we LOVED it!

It's not the same without a silly picture to go with our smiles!

Pictures from Squiggles

The crew LOVES our visits from Mrs. Brim on Fridays!

Each pirate started with the same squiggle, but look at how differently they saw each one as they created something new!

Walk the Plank Math Game & More

There are SO many math games the crew enjoys, but I love walk the plank because it gives the crew the opportunity to practice their addition facts.  They roll the dice AND have to explain how they solve the problem!  The first day they were SO tired after playing because it stretched their brains, but every day they play it gets easier so they are increasing their math stamina!

Articles of Agreement Ceremony

We learned this week that though pirates throughout history were not great examples, they DID have agreements on board their pirate ship so that the crew could get along!  Knowing this, we spent several days reading books and making a list of what we thought was important to us as a crew.  I was impressed with the items they voted on that we should honor all year long.

We invited our Cardinal Leaders!  The Pirate vocabulary we practiced all week came in handy as well!

Miss Dottaviano, our college student who sails with us some days,
came in to help Captain Kelly with face painting!!

What a BUNCH of cute pirates!

Thanks Mrs. Schoenberg for the Pirate Cupcakes!

Thank you parents for the AWESOME pirate treats for our celebration!

The crew started with a "pop quiz" by Mrs. Brim and Mrs. Antoine
on what all those words on our chart actually MEAN!

Mr. Strickland  gave the CHARGE to our crew!

The pirates had to raise their right "hook" as they promised to follow
the Articles of Agreement!

Then each crew member including the adults signed the agreement!

Mrs. Murphy and Mr. Strickland passed out the pirate necklaces as a fun treat to celebrate
such an important occasion!

Here is the crew posing with all our visitors for the day!

Time to EAT!!

Since it was raining today we ate on board the ship and it was quite a MESS so the
Cap'n gave the orders to SWAB the desk, floors, deck, and anything messy!
Tape on their hands works as a human vacuum and it's super FUN!

Smiles & Silliness

Here's my sweet crew after a fun day!  I LOVE this picture!

Here is our signed copy!

One missing pirate came back and signed the agreement as well!  Aarrrrgh!
