Marshmallow Towers

Today was happy because Mrs. Brim arrived with another fun project.  The crew was given a giant marshmallow, 36 inches of string, 36 inches of masking tape, and 25 sticks of uncooked spagetti and challenged to build the tallest freestanding tower they could. They also needed to add the marshmallow to the top.  They had 25 minutes to collaborate and work together.

The crew started by drawing and writing about their idea.  Then the group had to share their ideas and agree as a group on what to try.

These were the only TWO freestanding towers by the end of construction time!

Now comes the chance to think and write about what they would change about their experiment if they could design it again.  This really challenged the crew to try to work cooperatively to solve a problem.
